Automobilist resurrects the highlights of motorsports with complex numerical imagery. This series of posters illustrates the legendary Ford GT40 that marked the 24 Heures du Mans by winning the first three places.
This poster presents the GT40 n°1 chassis P/1015 which arrived second in the 24 Heures in 1966. In fact, this car should have won the race. After leading during the 24 Heures race, the Shelby team asked Ken Miles to slow down to take take the photo finish in the middle of the other two GT40. But at the time, regulations stipulated that the car covering the greatest distance wins. The black GT40 had started further back so it had covered the greatest distance and won the race!
