DESCRIPTION AND COMPOSITION

An American newspaper, *The New Indian*, questions the calibre of European drivers and decides to organise a competition called ‘The Grand Challenge’ to pit drivers from Old Europe against American drivers. The aim is to select one American driver and one French driver following five famous races. The races will be the Argentine Grand Prix, Indianapolis, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Francorchamps and the Nürburgring. Michel Vaillant is chosen to represent France, whilst the Americans select Steve Warson.
