Official book 24H du Mans 2017

The 85th edition of 24 Heures du Mans is in the annals forever as one of the most undecided in a decade rich in spectacular turn of events and unexpected outcomes. Placed under the sign of the duel between Porsche and Toyota, these two major manufacturers confronted each other for 11 hours before the Germans beat their Japanese rival. Despite being assured their 19th success, Porsche suffered multiple technical problems leaving only one 919 Hybrid on the circuit. There was only 90 minutes of race left when the two Oreca 07 in the LM P2 category took the lead. A situation the 24 Heures had never seen. Only 66 minutes before the chequered flag came down as the classification more clear, with Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley and Earl Bamber finally making it into the annals of the Sarthe classic. The suspense was even greater in the GTE Pro category. In the last lap, an Aston Martin succeeded in passing a Corvette who seemed destined for victory in a very popular category of the most prestigious car manufacturers of Grand Tourer category. For all these reasons, and many others, this work aims to cover the 24 Heures du Mans 2017 in every little detail from test day on 4 June until the last development after the finish when a Vaillante Rebellion was disqualified for a technical nonconformity, 3rd in the general classification and 2nd in LM P2 behind a Oreca 07 raced by a Chinese team. Spectacular developments everywhere the eye turned!
