Miniature of car #7 Chaparral 2F from the Chaparral Cars team, which took part in the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans.
A symbol of innovation in aerodynamics. In qualifying, it set an impressive second fastest time, just behind the formidable Ford Mk VI of Mark Donohue and Bruce McLaren. However, despite this promising performance, the 2F was forced to retire due to a spoiler stuck in a tilted position, compromising its straight-line speed, as well as recurring gearbox problems.
However, the Chaparral 2F did not leave people indifferent. Its ingenious movable wing system left its mark on motorsport history, inspiring the appearance of wings in Formula 1 as early as 1968 and the reintroduction of the concept under the name of DRS (Drag Reduction System) in 2011.
